More and more people are traveling with their dogs and/or want to travel with their dogs. They are part of the family and the family wants to include them in their vacation plans, leaving them in a kennel is just not an option for some people. Even the plush kennels are traumatic for your pets, they miss the family and their home turf.
Traveling with your pet does take extra time, planning, and extra fees for where you lodge. There are more and more hotels and resorts that have accommodations for pets, however, there are some restrictions and of course fees, always be sure to be informed what these are when you make your inquiries and reservations.
Make a travel packing list for your pet just like you do for any other member of the family, have their shot and immunization records with you and put them with your other important travel papers. Be sure you have a good supply of clean up bags and have them handy in your pet carry all bag. Have a separate carry all bag for your pet so that everything you will need, can be found easily and quickly, just like you would for a baby. Also included in your pet carry all bag would be their favorite treats; a sealed covered bowl for water or now they even have a bowl that folds up and fits in your pocket and/or purse, of course if you have a larger dog a small bowl would not work, so you need to take in consideration what size your per is; a favorite toy; carry crate and these also come in handy for the hotel room until your pet get familiar with their surroundings; be sure they have an information collar on so if you get separated the person who finds the dog can find you; a good sturdy leash and it would not hurt to take a spare on just in case.
Finding a pet friendly resort and/or hotel can be time consuming and tedious, so if your schedule is restricted, this is where a Personal Travel Website Agent comes in very handy, it is a website that has a personal contact with someone by either email or phone. They can do the research for you and find the accommodations that you want and that are also pet friendly, sometimes the hotels and resorts don't advertise that they are a pet friendly facility, but they will and do accept pets under certain conditions, and this time consuming task can be handed over to your Personal Travel Website Agent to do the research on, and all of your other reservations you can handle yourself if you choose.

Australia HolidaysDid you love the big car chase in that last movie? It was the one with the orange car that did the big jump onto the freeway with the two cousins at the wheel. Yea, that's the one. Remember how it got banged up and beat up all through the movie? Well, now you can simulate that on a model of that car. All it takes is a little work and some dedication and you will have a model car that looks just like it did on the movie.
The first thing you must do is to go out and find a model that is listed as an officially licensed model. What this means is that the movie makers and others involved have given the model maker the permission to make a replica of the movie car. While most of these can be rather detailed they usually do not include any of the damage that the car suffers during the movie. What you end up with is a pristine looking vehicle. Nice, but not like the car you are wanting in all its damaged glory.
If you are able then the best way to begin is to find a picture or to make a picture of what you want the car to look like when it is finished. The easiest way to do this is to find one on the Internet and print it out. Remember, such pictures are usually licensed as well so you cannot legally trade, sell, or buy this picture unless the site has express written permission to do so. Once you have this picture you are ready to begin.
You must identify the parts of your model car that will receive the "damage" treatment. Once you begin to assemble the car you will need to know these so you can adjust accordingly. If the part in question is actually missing from the movie vehicle then you will be able to leave it off of your finished model car. For example, the car in the movie is missing the rear bumper. You would then leave this bumper off of your car as well. Now for the panel damage. For this you need to know a little about auto lingo to proceed. If you are looking at a car from the side you will notice it is made up of sections. The section nearest the front is called the front quarter panel. The one nearest the bumper is known as the rear quarter panel. You then have the driver side and passenger side.
If the driver side front quarter panel is missing on the movie car then you will want to make sure that you adjust yours to suit. Remember, the movie car may not have lost the whole panel. If it has not then you should trim away the part on yours that needs to be removed and then glue the part to stay into place. You can trim and reattach parts and pieces as you need to with model cars to achieve the effect you are looking for. If there is damage from smoke, paint scrapes, etc. then these are easily achieve by some simple brush strokes in the right place. The end result will be a finished model car that you can really call your own and be proud of.

ToyotaBefore shovel meets dirt, take a deep breath and close your eyes and picture... nature run amok? Trust me, it can happen. When it comes to creating beautiful and functional outdoor spaces, a little thought and foresight (and graph paper) goes a long way. Here are some firsthand tips to help you avoid beginners' mistakes--my own!
Have A Plan
I figured, nature doesn't have a plan. Why do I need one? Well, it turns out nature does have a plan--survival of the fittest. The strong overtake the weak. And the concept of aesthetically pleasing is a concept unknown to nature. We homeowners, on the other hand, want all of our plants to survive and thrive-strong and weak, hand in hand singing Kum By Ya as the focal-point birch clump sways us gently on hammocks, our lips stained with Kool-Aid. And when we open our eyes from that August nap, we want to see rolling, flowing waves of plant life and envious neighbors. It's not going to happen without a plan.
In planning landscaping, start with a paper and pencil sketch (plot plan). Outline your lot, home and driveway, and begin doodling some ideas. Sketch out flowerbeds--do you want curved, flowing boundaries or crisp, formal lines and angles to the beds? Freestanding clusters of shrubs, grasses and flowers--where? And trees--evergreen or deciduous, standing alone or clustered or incorporated into a bed?
Need some more ideas? Check out those dang neighbors. Take a drive and pick out yards that you find especially well landscaped. Take notes or even pictures. Hint: leave the telephoto lens at home to avoid neighbors calling 911. Better yet, ask permission of the homeowner first. You'll likely get permission, a gleaming smile, and a detailed dissertation of each plant.
Find more ideas in books and magazines, great sources not only for relevant photographs and in-depth planning guides, but critical help in identifying individual plant for your climate zone and preferred level of maintenance.
Don't Crowd Those New Plants
Every container plant from your favorite nursery or garden center will have attached a little plastic tag identifying the plant and offering planting suggestions. Treat those suggestions as gold. Especially the spacing suggestions. To wit, the three Blue Pfitzer junipers purchased by yours truly and spaced two feet apart in a front flower bed when the tags said to space them 5-6 feet apart. My thinking was: but they're so tiny. And they looked ridiculously tiny in that big old empty flower bed. So I pushed them together and two years later I was digging up the middle one and planting it further out and two years after that I was digging up all three because they had collectively outgrown the flower bed. I threw'em in the ground along the back fence and now they're trying to push the fence down.
So here are some words to the wise: Plants grow. Some plants grow mightily. So space plants accordingly from the start.
Remember, You've Still Got To Mow
Unless your plan calls for a bush or flower on every square foot of your lot, remember that the remaining lawn needs maintaining. One of the early mistakes I made was not allowing for ease of mowing. I positioned low-hanging trees in the middle of the yard, created a few too many freestanding clumps of this and that, and fashioned flower beds that made following along with a mower especially difficult. Soft green grass is a lovely thing and I'm a big fan. But remember when planning the home landscaping, you'll be mowing that grass every week.
And the older you get the less amused you'll be while doing the limbo under low tree branches.

Amicizie OnlineCat Urine On The Carpet? Oh, No...
Getting cat urine on your carpet is by no means one of the joys of pet ownership. It can be really distressing and frustrating and it is easy to get angry at kitty...
Cat urine is one of the more challenging odors to remove especially when not using proper cleaning products. When cat urine is allowed to dry in a carpet, amino acids in the urine actually bonds with the fibers of the rug.
Not only do amino acids bind with the carpet, so do salts. Salts cause a bond with an ionic charge that is increasingly difficult to dissolve the longer the urine has been on the carpet. Steam cleaning, or home made cleaners will not dissolve these strong bonds, actually steam cleaning the carpet may make the problem worse.
Some cleaners available do nothing more than mask the smell. Other cleaners use chemical agents that attempt to absorb the smell.
This may help for the moment, but does not completely remove the urine, making the smell return eventually. With some urine left on the carpet, your cat will be more likely to urinate on the same spot again.
The first action to take when discovering a wet spot:
1. Mop up as much of the urine as you possibly can. Use absorbent paper towels or old towels. Lay them on the spot and blot until there is no trace of wetness. Recognize that you may only see a small part of the spot as the urine soaks into the padding under the carpet. Be careful adding water to the spot. You don't want the spot to spread out into the padding underneath.
2. Use an enzymatic cleaner that you can inject into the padding underneath the carpet. Inject the cleaner in order to cover a spot 1/2 a foot in diameter, then spray the surface of the spot with the cleaner.
3. When using a proper cleaner, that is all you need to do. No rinsing needed. Keep your cat away from the area until it is completely dry which can take a few days.
Even though it can be easy to let the frustration out on the cat, remember that cats do not eliminate outside the box without some, for them, good reason.
When a cat eliminates outside the litter box it is a sign that something is amiss. Frequently a medical issue such as a urinary tract infection is the cause which would need medical attention. The cause needs to be discovered and corrected to ensure future success.
Finding and eliminating the cause of the behavior while cleaning the urine with the proper cleaner will assure that you will have a sweet smelling home, and a cat that goes in the box.
